How to Auto-Fill PDF Forms Online — Save Your Details Once
Scholarship form. College admission form. Bank account form. A state scheme application. Every one of them asks for the same things: full name, father's name, mother's name, date of birth, Aadhaar number, address with PIN code, category, highest qualification, bank IFSC. Typing all of that again for every form is slow, and one typo in a PIN code or date of birth can get an application rejected. Auto-fill fixes that: you enter your details once, and every PDF form after that takes seconds.
How PDF form auto-fill works
Many PDF forms — especially ones published by universities, banks and government departments — have fillable fields: boxes you can click and type into. Each field has an internal name, such as Father's Name or Pincode. An auto-filler reads those names and puts the matching value from your saved profile into each one. You then check everything and download the completed form.
| Type of form | What auto-fill does |
|---|---|
| Fillable PDF form (you can click into boxes and type) | Matches fields to your profile and fills them automatically |
| Flat or scanned form (just a picture of a form) | No fields to match. You click anywhere on the page to place text yourself |
How to tell which you have: open the PDF in Chrome or Edge and click inside a box. If a cursor appears and you can type, it's fillable.
What you can save in your profile
DocuSmartly's Auto-Fill PDF Forms profile is built around the fields Indian forms actually ask for. Every field is optional — fill only what you want saved.

How to auto-fill a PDF form in 4 steps
- Create your profile. Open Auto-Fill PDF Forms, fill in the details you use on forms, and click Save Profile. You only do this once.
- Upload the form. Click Continue to Upload and drop in the PDF form — scholarship, admission, bank, any form.
- Review every field. The matched fields are pre-filled. Check each one, type over anything that's wrong, and fill the fields that weren't matched. For flat forms, click on the page to place text where it belongs.
- Download. Your completed form is saved as name-filled.pdf, or any name you choose.
Need a signature on it? Add one with the Sign tool — see how to fill and sign a PDF form.

Auto-Fill a PDF Form — FreeWhere your details are stored
Your profile is saved in your own browser, on this device. It isn't sent to DocuSmartly or anyone else, and the form you fill isn't uploaded either — matching and filling both happen in your browser. That matters when the profile holds your Aadhaar, PAN and bank account number.
The flip side: the profile lives only in that browser. Clearing your browsing data, switching browsers or using private mode means it's gone.
Using your profile on another device
Create an encrypted save link. Your profile is encrypted with a password you choose and packed into the part of the link after the #, which browsers never send to a server. Open the link on your phone or another laptop, enter the password, and your profile loads there.
- Send the password separately — never in the same message as the link.
- Remember it. Without the password the link can't be opened, and nobody can recover it for you.
Tips so your forms don't get rejected
- Match your documents exactly. Save your name, father's name and date of birth exactly as they appear on your Aadhaar or 10th mark sheet — forms are often checked against those.
- Watch the date format. Some forms want DD/MM/YYYY, others DD-MM-YYYY. Fix it at the review step if a form is different.
- Double-check category and caste fields. Wrong values here can affect eligibility for reservations and scholarships.
- Check the PIN code and mobile number. These are the most common typos, and the ones that stop an admit card or an OTP from reaching you.
- Mind the upload size. Many portals cap uploads at 100–200 KB — see how to compress a PDF to 100 KB.
Common questions
Is it free?
Yes. No account, no watermark.
Will every field be filled automatically?
Not always. Forms name their fields in different ways, so some won't match your profile. That's why everything is shown for review before you download.
What if the form asks for a self-attested document too?
That's a separate step. See how to self-attest a document online, or how to self-attest an Aadhaar copy.
